Irvington Shakespeare Company is thrilled to announce their 2nd Annual Summer Shakespeare Production: Love’s Labour’s Lost coming this July!

IRVINGTON, NY — We at the Irvington Shakespeare Company, an Irvington Theater Arts Partner, are excited to welcome you to our 2nd annual Summer Shakespeare Festival! This summer, we are thrilled to present a production of William Shakespeare's: Love's Labor Lost. We are staging our production outdoors on the rolling green hills of Mercy College on the stunning terrace of their Verrazzano Hall. It is a beautiful, rustic space and easily accessible. Unlike last year, there are no tickets or registration required, just bring your own chairs and blankets for a wonderful summer night of free live theatre, with an option to donate (please if you can!)

Love's Labour's Lost follows the King of Navarre and his three companions as they attempt to swear off the company of women for three years in order to focus on study and fasting. But, when the Princess of France and her ladies arrive, things get...complicated.

Exploring themes of masculine love and desire, reckoning and rationalization, and reality versus fantasy, LLL is a rarely performed comedic triumph with an ending you won't see coming.

The Bard’s classic comedy will spring to life with a professional cast that stars Caturah Brown (she/her) as the Princess of France, Juliet Perrell (she/her) as Rosaline, Emma Freeman (she/her) as Katharine, Jane Abbott (she/her) as Maria (and Movement Director), Sarah Bitar (she/her) as Boyet, Julia Schonberg (she/her) as Ferdinand, Sage Newman (they/them) as Berowne (and Dramaturge), Traci Redmond (she/her) as Longaville and Kamran Saliani (he/him) as Dumaine (and Producer).

Original lyrics and music composed, written and performed live by Irvington’s Sierra Scott (she/they) as Co-Music Director, Jonah Scott (he/him) as Co-Music Director of The Altogether!

Stage Managed by Elizabeth Hetzel (she/they) and Technically Directed by Sarah French (she/they).

Shakespeare's works reflect many of the themes and challenges present in our world today, offering catharsis and hope. The Irvington Shakespeare Company (ISC) seeks to decolonize and perform Shakespeare's plays in ways that everyone can understand in order to better process this critical moment in time.

We produce professional theatre to entertain and inspire audiences, aiming to showcase local talent in Westchester, the greater Hudson Valley, and throughout New York State. We will take steps to ensure our productions are inclusive creatively as well as accessible physically by producing plays with an intersectional lens, at free or affordable cost, while being mindful to stage performances all people can attend through public transportation.

Please share far and wide. Parents across the county are very stymied about how and where to vaccinate their youngest, and they have waited long enough. Greenburgh Insider: Great News—Greenburgh to receive $5 million from NYS---sidewalk to be built on West Hartsdale Ave.

 

The Town Board of the Town of Greenburgh has made pedestrian safety a major priority for years. Over the last several years the Board has supported the development of over five miles of new sidewalk.

Great News—Greenburgh to receive $5 million from NYS---sidewalk to be built on West Hartsdale Ave.

 

The Town Board of the Town of Greenburgh has made pedestrian safety a major priority for years. Over the last several years the Board has supported the development of over five miles of new sidewalk through direct Town expenditures, grant funding and private sector development. On Thursday, June 23, 2022, Lt. Governor Antonio Delgado, Senator Andrea Stewart Cousins, Assemblyman Tom Abinanti, County Executive George Latimer announced that the Town of Greenburgh is the recipient of a $5,000,000 Transportation Alternatives Program (TAP) grant for improvements which will include: (1) over 1 mile of sidewalk extending from Four Corners (intersection of Central Ave/West Hartsdale Ave) up West Hartsdale Avenue to Pat Capone Road connecting to three school campuses; (2) Adaptive Traffic Control Signals from Four Corners to the Hartsdale Train Station which will be synched to relieve congestion in the corridor; and (3) pedestrian safety enhancements spanning all of the East Hartsdale Avenue downtown corridor. 

 

West Hartsdale Avenue is the most significant gap in the Town’s pedestrian network and will be one of the most important infrastructure projects ever undertaken in the Town. These projects will benefit businesses, residents and commuters throughout the Town. The improvements will also strengthen the viability of redevelopment at Four Corners, which was the subject of a strategic land-use plan approved by the Town Board in 2019. 

 

The Town has successfully partnered with New York State Department of Transportation on two prior TAP grant projects with a sidewalk recently completed on Central Park Avenue and a sidewalk along Hillside Avenue, soon ready for construction.

 

The East-West Hartsdale Avenue TAP grant announcement builds upon another recent announcement, as the Town of Greenburgh successfully partnered with Congressman Mondaire Jones to receive $1,000,000 of Community Project funding for a new sidewalk along Dobbs Ferry Road which will connect West Hartsdale Avenue to Rt. 119-Tarrytown Road, projected to be constructed in 2023. 

 

The Town will also soon construct a pedestrian activated HAWK signal at the intersection of Central Avenue and Lawton Avenue, one block north of Four Corners. This signal will be the first of its type in the Town, with construction to begin in July. Planning for a sidewalk along North Washington Avenue also continues, as does pedestrian safety planning Town-wide. A special thanks to the Town Board, civic associations, residents and other Boards and committees that provided letters of support for the grant. The TAP grant was also strengthened by the work of Consultant AKRF, who provided technical assistance with the grant application under the supervision of Planning Commissioner Garrett Duquesne, who authored the grant.
