4 corners, Hartsdale update- citizens land use committee to participate in selection of engineering/planning consultant...2 homes the town purchased on W Hartsdale Ave to be demolished.

MEETING 4 CORNERS LAND USE CITIZENS COMMITTEE THIS THURSDAY, AUGUST 22 AT 7:30 pm (the 4 corners is the intersection: West & East Hartsdale Ave, Central Ave)

Following the Town Board’s approval of the Four Corners Redevelopment Plan in April of this year, Town staff, with input from a committee of interested residents have been working on obtaining an Engineering and Planning Consultant for the purposes of undertaking an infrastructure analysis focused on existing traffic congestion and flooding in the Four Corners area, and potential related infrastructure improvements which could facilitate mixed-use redevelopment, as envisioned in the Plan. Excellent responses were received based on a Town request for proposals. The resident committee will meet this Thursday, August 22nd 7:30pm in the Lee F. Jackson Room, regarding an update on the process. These meetings are open to the public. The Town Board will be interviewing 2-3 firms at upcoming work sessions, which will be televised, live-streamed, and open to the public as well, with a goal of selecting a firm in September.

The following RFP has been posted on the town website. Last year the town purchased two properties on W Hartsdale Ave. We anticipate that the property may eventually be used to create a turning lane to reduce traffic back up on W Hartsdale Ave. Will ask our traffic consultant to consider whether the space could be used temporarily for parking. In the meantime – the two homes will be demolished.  The RFP appears below.

a fantastic event today ---Dobbs Ferry Road to Freedom walk and a lecture "The Decision that won the War" about our role in the Revolutionary War.

In recent weeks we have highlighted the significant role the Odell House on Ridge Road in Hartsdale played in the Revolutionary War. WE're all very excited about the agreement to turn the house over to the town and  about our plans to restore the house  as a living museum so students and members of the community will be able to appreciate the role Greenburgh played in our nation's history.

Tomorrow, Sunday, at 1 PM there will be a walk commemorating the Road to Freedom. I've attended some of the previous walks - it's always a great event. If any of your children are taking social studies courses this coming year and if they are going to be studying American history - the walk tomorrow will give them a head start and make this part of our history more meaningful.   Hope to see you tomorrow!

Update Lois Bronz Children’s Center air conditioning problems.

I am on vacation but am checking e mails. In recent weeks have received complaints about the air conditioning problems at the Lois Bronz Children’s Center. The center is independent of the town but the building is owned by the town. Because of the heat there have been days when the center has been closed. The building is old. It was determined that portable air conditioning units would not have provided children and staff with the relief they need. This is a response I received from the commissioner of public works. I had previously contacted the Greenburgh school district and LBCC and suggested that the center temporarily function out of the school building until we resolve the problem

Paul Feiner

Confirming the note from Supervisor Feiner, the Town has ordered the replacement parts for the rooftop air-conditioning unit that serves parts of the Lois Bronz Children’s Center.   The part is being shipped from a vendor in Texas identified by our contractor with the matching part.  The part is not readily available due to the age of the system.  Our contractor expects the part to arrive today, and had made arrangements for a crane to lift the unit into place and make the repairs within the next week.

Further, the Town is investigating options to replace this rooftop air conditioning chiller system in the next year with a new system.

The Town has placed fans throughout the affected areas of the Lois Bronz center to help move air around to provide some comfort to the children and staff.

Interim Police Chief selected by Town Board.

The Town Board is pleased to announce that Captain Brian J. Ryan has been selected as the Interim Police Chief, replacing retiring Police Chief Chris McNerney. Captain Ryan’s interim appointment will become effective August 26th, 2019. A permanent Police Chief will be appointed next year after the administration of a civil service promotional exam.

Captain Ryan is a 30-year veteran of the Police Department and has an outstanding record of experience and achievement. Captain Ryan has worked in every division of the department, and has excelled in every one. Captain Ryan’s most recent assignment was the Commanding Officer of the Detective Division.

The Town Board would like to thank the Greenburgh Police Community Advisory Commission for participating with the selection process, as well as the other outstanding Police Captains that were interviewed for the assignment. This was a difficult decision because the other two Captains are also highly accomplished and qualified.  Captain Ryan will be formally introduced at the August 28th Town Board meeting.   We wish Chief-designee Ryan great success and look foreward to working with him to make a great Police department even better.

PAUL FEINER

Due to inclement weather the Greenburgh pool at A.F. Veteran Park will be closed for the remainder of the the day (Wed. 8/7).
