GREENBURGH TOWN BOARD TO VOTE WEDNESDAY NIGHT TO TAKE OWNERSHIP OF HISTORIC ODELL HOUSE –WHICH WILL BE RESTORED.
HOUSE PLAYED AN IMPORTANT ROLE IN THE REVOLUTIONARY WAR.
AFTER VOTE TOWN SUPERVISOR AND PRESIDENT OF SONS OF AMERICAN REVOLUTION WILL SIGN AGREEMENT AT ODELL HOUSE.
On July 10th at 7:00 PM the Greenburgh Town Board will meet at the Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters on Ridge Road, Hartsdale to authorize Town Supervisor Paul Feiner to sign the contract transferring ownership of the property to the Town. Bob Stackpole, president of the NY Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution is authorized by his membership to sign the contract at the same time. Immediately after the vote Town Supervisor Feiner and Mr. Stackpole will sign the agreement using an antique desk found on the property.
The event will include a brief history of this amazing house from its construction in 1732 to the day the last Odell gave it to the SAR in 1965. It was here in 1781 that George Washington and General Rochambeau met for six weeks and plotted the winning strategy of the American Revolution. Susan Seal, the chair of the newly formed Friends of Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters, and Bob Stackpole will give this history and outline the plans for the future restoration. Mrs. Seal’s 501c3 non-profit will help the Town coordinate grant applications, donations from private individuals and volunteer helpers.
The members of the Town Board who will be voting are Diana Juettner, Ellen Hendrickx, Francis Sheehan, Ken Jones and Supervisor Feiner.
