Town of Greenburgh Community Calendar.


The Town of Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation would like to invite you to bring your pooch to the Annual “Dog Days of Summer” dog swim! 

DATE:      Sunday, September 8, 2019

TIME:       10:00am-2:00pm (rain or shine)

LOCATION:  Anthony F. Veteran Park (11 Olympic Lane, Ardsley, NY 10502)
                        Lower pools “E” and “F” (located near the park entrance)

FEE:  $5.00 per dog                            


             On-site registration is required on the day of the event. 

           All dogs must be licensed and have all current vaccinations.
        
           Proceeds from the event go to the “Friends of the East Rumbrook Dog Park Association”

Hart’s Brook Park & Preserve Nature Walk – September 7th, 2019.
Time: 10:00am

Location: 156 Ridge Rd in Hartsdale, NY, 10530.

Greenburgh Parks and Recreation is offering a special event as part of the Annual Hudson River Valley Ramble. 

Join members of the Parks & recreation Department staff at they discuss the   history of the former Gaisman Estate, and    its unusual barn and stables that have yet to house a single animal. Take a walk and explore the wooded trails and around the pond to see the ‘warming hut” where ice skaters escaped the cold years ago! Enjoy the master gardens around the barn and see what’s being harvested for the fall.  Visit the beautiful Marian Woods chapel!  Families welcome!

The Hudson River Valley Ramble is presented by the Hudson River Valley National Heritage Area and Greenway, in partnership with the NYS DEC Hudson River Estuary ProgramNYS Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, the NYS Division of Tourism, the  National Park Service, and over 155 organizations hosting Ramble events throughout the Hudson River Valley.

Upcoming Multipurpose Center Programs and Classes for Seniors-Fall 2019


Check out the new classes starting in September at the Multipurpose Center which is located in Anthony F. Veteran Park, 11 Olympic Lane in Ardsley. 

Participants must have a current town Unicard. Registration starts Monday, August 19th.



Intro. To Meditation:  Mondays, September 9 – December 23     8:30am -9:30am
Class Fee: $5.00.  Instructor: Kristen Lu
In this class, you will begin with gentle stretching to loosen the muscles.
Listen to a 30-minute guided meditation. Enjoy tea while discussing your experience.
*Please wear comfortable clothes in which you can easily sit down.



Canasta Classes:
Mondays Sept. 9th - Oct. 28th (No class 9/30 & 10/14)
  Fees: $35/Res.  $48/Non-Resident. Instructor: Rissa Borisoff

Canasta Basics: 10am –12noon
Learn or review   playing basics & scoring.

Supervised Intermediate Canasta12:30 –2:30:
 Need to know basics. More strategies, scoring for table, & rotating partners.

Tai  Chi for  Older Adults & Seniors Reducing Fall Risks and Improving Balance
**Free trial class: Wednesday, Sept. 11th at 11:30am**
Wednesdays:  September 18th - December 18th.     Instructor: Glenn Eisen
(no class 10/2, 10/9, 10/16)      Time: 11:30 – 12:15     Class Fee: $5.00.
Every Tai Chi practice session has four parts:
*Simple head to toe warm up of all the body’s major joints and central balance system.
*Review of movement principles &movement exercises related to efficient body movement.
*Practice the modified balance improvement routine based on the
      Yang Style 24 Tai Chi Forms.   *Cool down with a tapping exercise and acupressure routine.

Qi Gong for Seniors & Adults
Thursdays, September 5th – October 24th    8:30am - 9:30am
Fees: $35/Resident Seniors     $42/Resident Adults      $48 Non-Residents
Energy (chee) and gentle body movement (gong) for healing the body, mind and emotions.

 Paint Like Van Gogh w/ Susan Spillo . Wed. Sept. 18th 1:00pm
Create your own version of Van Gogh’s “Sunflowers” painting. No painting experience necessary!  Sample at Front Desk. Fee: $10. Materials included.

Topics: D-Day: Omaha Beach, Woodstock ‘69, JFK assassination & Music of Lennon & McCartney. A great walk down memory lane!
