We should honor this exceptional Greenburgh resident with an honorary street naming designation and scholarship for students who excel in fashion/journalism.
Andre Leon Talley was an American fashion journalist, stylist, creative direct and editor at large of Vogue Magazine. He was world respected. He lived on Worthington Road in Greenburgh and many people would like to honor his memory with an honorary street designatioN on a town road. We have done this very few times.
Andre inspired people. He encouraged others to reach for the stars and even met with Greenburgh student interns in 2015 --encouraging them to fulfill their dreams.
At the Town Board work session on April 19th we heard a presentation from Azline Suber, a friend of Andre's. She recommended that the town honor Andre with an honorary street designation. Town Clerk Judith Beville, a friend of Andre's, also encouraged an honorary street designation. A suggestion I made was to find a location near a local school and to also organize a scholarship for an outstanding student who plans a career in fashion or journalism. Andre could continue to inspire young people.
Your suggestions -ways to honor a Greenburgh resident who was respected around the world be appreciated. A link to yesterday's meeting is below. We hope to make a decision within a month.
