September 21, the last day summer, marked a special day in Greenburgh when global fashion icons and local friends, neighbors and officials came together celebrate the renaming of a portion of Worthington Street “Honorary André Leon Talley Way.”

André, larger than life Vogue creative director who lived in Greenburgh and died in early 2022, “gave us a picture of what life can be when we believe in ourselves,” said Deacon Frank Williams.

Azline Suber, owner of Azline Unique Fashion, worked hard to make this event happen and the reception to follow at the place where she met André, the City Limits Diner he loved. He said she looked "fabulous." Azline co-chaired the event with our Town Clerk, Judith Beville.

Fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg spoke of her dear friendship of over 45 years, sharing that this “was a very emotional day for all of us; I love André” and that “no matter how big he was, sometimes he felt small” but she was happy to report that before his death, “he felt big.”  "The idea that now the street will be named for him fills my heart," said Furstenberg in a WWD interview.

All the members of the Greenburgh Town Board- Ken Jones, Gina Jackson, Ellen Hendrickx, Francis Sheehan and myself had voted to dedicate the street in Andre Leon Talley's honor and memory
