Greenburgh Insider: Food drive at town hall/library organized by the SewaDiwali Hindu community.

Please support this food drive. Bin at Town Hall.

We are Greenburgh residents and part of HSS (Hindu Swayamsevak Sangh). We are organizing a food donation drive as part of SewaDiwali. (https://sewadiwali.org)

SewaDiwali is an initiative by Dharmic organizations like Yoga, Spiritual, Hindu/Buddha/Jain centers,Gurudwaras, Linguistic and Indian socio-cultural organizations who believe in the Sewa Dharma - “Service to Humanity is Service to Divinity” to give back to society where we live in during the festival of Diwali which is celebrated worldwide on October 24, 2022.

SewaDiwali is a collective initiative to come together and represent the collective strength and synergy of the Dharma Community living in the USA and contribute towards their local communities. This is an opportunity for all of us to join the national movement to stop hunger. It helps enhance the Sewa Bhaav (spirit of selfless service) among all the members including kids and families.

Activities like this can also help expand the footprint of the community organizations and reach out to new members not connected so far.

This campaign has been expanding nationally over the past few years. In 2021, the campaign ran in 31 states. We collected over 590,000 pounds of food items and donated to 315 food pantries, soup kitchens etc. across 200+ townships throughout the USA.

I am sure residents of the Town of Greenburgh would wholeheartedly contribute to this initiative. This year it's even more critical for Beneficiary organizations to receive food supplies due to rising inflation. We are collecting dry (pasta, canned food, cereal, sugar, rice, juice, pasta sauce) and non-perishable vegetarian food.

Here are the collection centres

Greenburgh Town Hall - 177 Hillside Ave, White Plains, NY -10607

Greenburgh Library - 300 Tarrytown Rd, Elmsford, NY - 10523

If anyone needs any additional information, we can be reached out as below

Devendra - 551-689-5039

Ajish - 914-356-0474

We can also pick up food from other locations if needed.

Thank you for organizing this important effort for a worthy cause.

PAUL FEINER

This initiative has already started and ends on 6th November.

Thanks again for your help

Devendra
