Greenburgh Insider: New video from Friends of Odell House...plans for a museum.

Greenburgh's Odell House played an important role in American history and in the Revolutionary War. We're excited about our plans to create a museum at this historic house.

The Friends of Odell House Rochambeau Headquarters are proud to announce the launch of our new video, the Philipsburgh Encampment in Westchester in 1781. After several months of work by Board members Chris Rubeo, Susan and David Seal, it is now on their website and facebook page. It will be shared with the superintendents of all schools in Westchester.

Related news: During the past four years the Ardsley School district has worked closely with the Ardsley Historical Society on projects such as the Odell House Restoration. On Saturday there was an exciting event at the Ardsley High School. We dedicated the newly installed Historic Marker at Ardsley High School.  The marker highlights info about the Ardsley Encampment. Highlight of the dedication was listening to very bright  students from Ardsley Middle School. The students have formed an Ardlsey Local History Club and presented us with important historical info about the significant role our community played during the Revolutionary War.

$50,000 will be included in the 2023 proposed Greenburgh budget that will be submitted by me to the Town Board on October 30th for a museum consultant. Once the house is repaired we hope to take steps to turn the historic Odell House into a museum.   We need to start planning now!  We want future generations of residents and students to appreciate our local history.
