Greenburgh Insider: In memory of former Police Chief Donald Singer.

 

Chief Singer helped build the modern Greenburgh Police Department -investing in technology.

The Greenburgh Police Department regrets to announce the passing of former Greenburgh Police Chief, Donald Singer. Chief Singer was appointed as a Police Officer on October 10, 1960. A recipient of many awards, Chief Singer served as Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, and was ultimately appointed Chief of Department on August 25, 1976. After 25 successful years as Chief and 32 total years with the Greenburgh Police Department, he retired on May 31, 1992. Prior to the his law enforcement career, he served in the 30th Bombardment Squadron of the 19th Bombardment Wing of the United States Air Force until his Honorable Discharge on May 3, 1950. Chief Singer continued his military career as a member of the New York National Guard, achieving the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

 

Visitation for Chief Singer is on Friday, January 6, 2023, 4 -9 PM at the Curry Funeral Home, 313 North James Street in Peekskill, 914-737-0083.

Police Chief Singer helped Greenburgh establish a modern police force.  He invested in technology and up to date equipment --helping our town have a low crime rate. He loved the Police Department and also was proud of his service in the military --serving our country.  His service to our town, the state and nation will always be appreciated.
