Greenburgh mourns the passing of former Commissioner of Community Resources Barbara Perry-- A tribute will be held in her memory at the Town Board meeting on Wednesday July 26th at 7:30 PM

On Wednesday evening July 26th the Greenburgh Town Board will start our meeting with a tribute to Barbara Perry, the 2nd executive director of the Theodore Young Community Center and the first Commissioner of the Department of Community Resources. Barbara sadly passed away on July 15th and will be missed by our community.  The tribute will take place at 7:30 P.M.

Besides serving as the first female Commissioner of the Department of Community Resources, Barbara led the department when construction of a 2nd floor at the TDYCC was built. She lobbied NYS to appropriate funds for this important addition -enabling the Theodore Young Community Center to provide patrons and children with additional programming -a dance studio, classrooms and social programs.  Barbara also was responsible for enriching cultural activities --starting a jazz concert series that continues today.    Prior to her being appointed Commissioner Barbara served as Assistant to the Commissioner of the Greenburgh Parks department. She was a long time advocate for providing quality social and recreational programs in Greenburgh.

Barbara was a special woman who was passionate about the community, the Theodore Young Community Center. She spoke out on matters she felt strongly about and wasn't afraid to express herself. She did a tremendous amount of good during her life and changed many lives in a positive manner.

Greenburgh Town Supervisor
