Greenburgh Town Board to review proposed budget between now and December 20th. Public hearing on November 25th.
I submitted the proposed 2025 town budget to the Greenburgh Town Board for consideration. The budget proposal in its entirety can be found on the Greenburgh town website along with my budget message.
(see link below).
https://www.greenburghny.com/
There are two budgets—one for the villages and unincorporated Greenburgh (called the A budget) and the other for unincorporated Greenburgh (B budget). Some highlights are below. The tax rate in the B budget decreased by 4.30%. The tax rate in the A budget increased very slightly: 0.03%. Total appropriations in both budgets were also down.
For a more detailed explanation of the budget as proposed please read the budget message. Residents who have questions can always feel free to e mail me at pfeiner@greenburghny.com A public hearing on the proposed budget will be held on Monday, November 25th at 7:30 PM at Town Hall. We usually hold a second hearing in December.
Before the budget was submitted the Town Board discussed budget requests with department heads at public work sessions that were also televised and streamed on the website. The Town Board has until December 20th to approve a final budget. Discussions will be televised.
2025 BUDGET SUMMARY TOWN WIDE: (A Budget)
Tax rate increase = 0.03%
Total Appropriations = $24.7 million, down $1.4 million from 2024 (Please refer to At a Glance Page)
For a resident, whose home is assessed at $500,000 there would be an increase in the taxes they pay in 2025
compared to 2024 – $210.08 in 2025 vs. $210.03 in 2024, with an additional tax of $0.05 per $500,000 of
assessed value.
TOWN OUTSIDE: (B Budget)
Tax rate decrease = -4.30% (A Fund and B Fund combined)
Total Appropriations = $106.06 million, down $0.26 million from 2024 (Please refer to At a Glance Page)
For a resident, whose home is assessed at $500,000 there would be a decrease in the taxes they pay in 2025
compared to 2024 – $2,673.19 in 2025 vs. $2,793.28 in 2024, with a decrease of
$120.09 per $500,000 of assessed value.
*Footnote: If your assessment valuation is more than the average home value, you may see an increase in taxes. Because many assessments went up (value of properties) some residents will see tax hikes. Other taxpayers will pay the same or less next year.
