Proposed Greenburgh capital budget includes funding for new pickleball courts.
GREENBURGH PLANS TO PROMOTE THE FASTEST GROWING SPORT IN AMERICA THAT MOST PEOPLE NEVER HEARD OF--PICKLEBALL.
4 NEW COURTS AT RUMBROOK, PLUS IMPROVEMENTS AT COURTS AT AF VETERAN PARK.
The proposed 2022 Greenburgh capital budget includes funding for the fastest growing sport in America that most people never heard of - Pickleball. Last month the Greenburgh Town Board voted (at the urging of the Parks & Recreation Advisory Board) to allocate $125,000 from a non taxpayer funded escrow fund to develop four new pickleball courts at East Rumbrook Park. The capital budget includes $115,000. We hope that the courts will be up and running this year. The proposed capital budget also includes funding to repaint AFV Park Tennis courts 1 & 2 for pickleball courts using amor crack repair system, apply an acrylic resurfacer and repaint the courts with an acrylic paint multiple applications. The Greenburgh Town Board will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, February 23rd after 7:30 on the proposed budget. If the budget is approved we anticipate that work will be completed this year on the courts.
