WECA volunteers provide emergency communications during natural and man made disasters.

Emergency communications volunteers needed!  FREE CLASS STARTING TUESDAY.

During our 9-11 ceremony at Richard Presser Park in Hartsdale today I spoke to one of the volunteers who is part of the Westchester Emergency Communications Association. This organization is looking for volunteers to provide emergency communications during natural and man made disasters at the request of the Office of Emergency Management. They also provide communications services for charity events such as walk a t hons and bike a thons.

They combine traditional radio technology and today's new technology. Video and digital communications are now possible.

They are organizing a free class starting this Tuesday at 7 PM on zoom or live at the Westchester Training Center Valhalla. For information  EDUCATION@WECA.ORG.   The course includes all the

information needed to pass the FCC Technician license test.
