Greenburgh Insider: Con Ed gas work in Irvington/Tarrytown to impact E Irvington residents.

East Sunnyside Lane to close beginning Monday, October 10 DUE TO CON ED GAS MAIN WORK --PROJECT COULD CONTINUE TILL END OF APRIL.

 

INCONVENIENCES EXPECTED.

 

I have received many calls/e mails from residents about the anticipated inconveniences due to Con Ed underground gas work that will impact residents of E Irvington.  The gas work is located in the village of Irvington and Tarrytown but will impact  residents of E Irvington. Larry Schoefer, Village Administrator of Irvington, advises  that Con Ed is meeting with village officials weekly to evaluate the progress. In an e mail I received from Laura Rizzo, Corporate Affairs manager for Con Ed earlier this week Con Ed stated that "this is a full road closure as the road is very narrow and it would be unsafe to complete the work." She indicated that " Tarrytown and Irvington will have police officers on site to help with traffic and there will be detour signs."

 Beginning Monday, October 10th, East Sunnyside Lane will be closed due to the replacement of gas mains by Con Edison. Road closures will be in place Mondays through Saturdays from 7 am to 5pm.  

 

The project will begin at Broadway, closing East Sunnyside Lane between Broadway and Hudson View Park. Until further notice, residents who live off East Sunnyside Lane will need to use Taxter Road/ Rte. 119 for access. The project will slowly move east up East Sunnyside Lane, and the street closures will shift as the work progresses. The entire project is anticipated to continue through end April. 

 

Be aware that there may be a temporary suspension of gas service to homes and businesses as Con Ed disconnects & reconnects service to residences, but it should never be more than a day. An inspection may be required before service is restored. If leaks or hazards are identified in the course of inspection, they will need to be remedied by the homeowner or business owner before service is restored.
