Our community garden outside Woodlands HS (created in 1975) is one of the most popular gardens around. A community garden outside the Theodore Young Community Center will bring joy to seniors and provide our youth with the chance to work with seniors.
In 1975 Greenburgh created a community garden outside the Woodlands HS campus. It's been enormously popular. Our hope and goal for 2023 is to create another community garden outside the Theodore Young Community Center on Manhattan Ave. Seniors and young people could enjoy working together at the garden and to eat healthy food grown in the garden. The garden that was built in 1975 outside Woodlands HS has 57 12 by 16 inch garden plots and is enjoyed by many. See article about the farm named for Myrna Youdelman by clicking onto the attachment.
Thank you Terrance Jackson, David Reggina and Tina Harper for your vision to create another garden outside the Theodore Young Community Center. We hope to receive grants and create a first class garden that will be enjoyed by many. This is a very exciting initiative that will bring joy to our seniors. The new senior citizen affordable apartment complex on Manhattan Ave will be open in the near future. A community garden within walking distance of the senior affordable housing units will provide seniors with a better quality of life --another program to participate in and look forward to.
