Tom deserves to be thanked for his effective leadership - and for his hard work which has helped make Greenburgh a better place.
Tom Abinanti, who will be retiring as our State Assemblyman on December 31, will be honored by the Greenburgh Town Board this Wednesday evening at 7:30 PM.
Tom Abinanti has served the residents of Greenburgh as our Assemblyman since 2011. Prior to election to the Assembly, Tom served as a member of the Board of Legislators -including being elected three times by his colleagues to the powerful and important position of Majority Leader. Prior to that, he twice served as a member of the Greenburgh Town Board;
Tom successfully fought to preserve hundreds of acres for parks and open space. He has fought to protect women's rights and has been a champion and strong advocate for people with special needs.
As a member of the New York State Assembly, Tom has fought hard to increase financial aid to school districts in Greenburgh and obtained financial help for Greenburgh to construct new sidewalks, renovate the Greenburgh library and improve Massaro park in North Elmsford. Tom helped the Town financially by passing legislation to provide hotel tax revenue and additional sales tax to the town of Greenburgh. The millions of dollars in additional revenue has helped the Town avoid tax hikes for four consecutive years;
Whenever the town needed Tom, he was there for our residents. Tom is a true servant of the people and an effective lawmaker who got results for the Town of Greenburgh. He deserves to be thanked for his hard work and dedication.
PAUL FEINER
Greenburgh Town Supervisor
