They donated 1,000 meals to the hungry on Thanksgiving and have a corporate culture that is is inspiring and a model for others (link to radio interview with owner).
Bernardo Luciano, owner of Central Turf & Irrigation Supply, headquartered in Elmsford, gave back to his community in a big way when he donated 1,000 meals to those most in need this Thanksgiving Day. I interviewed him and his daughter, Camilla Sorvillo on my WVOX radio program. The company also has an amazing corporate culture - with employees helping fellow employees who face problems in their lives. The company has sponsored other many charitable causes over the years. A model company! So glad they are located in town. The Greenburgh Town Board will honor Bernardo Luciano, Camilla Sorvillo and Central Turf and Irrigation Supply at our December 14th Town Board meeting at 7:30 PM.

The operation of feeding so many went smoothly thanks to numerous organizations and caring individuals who stepped up to make this giant undertaking successful. And to all the following the Town of Greenburgh would like to express our appreciation:
· The generosity of the Luciano family in donating the food, and then coming out to work most of Thanksgiving day. Most especially Bernardo’s daughter Camilla Sorvillo, responsible for much of the planning of the event in collaboration with Town Supervisor assistant Krista Madsen.
· The 40+ staff members of Central TIS who spent their holiday volunteering - it was a blue-shirt army of loving workers, some driving for hours from other states to come help. We offer special thanks to Cristian Rodriguez, who – ensuring no food went to waste – after a long day on site offered to drive all the leftover meals to two locations where they would go to good use in Mt Vernon and the Bronx.
· The amazing staff of the Greenburgh Health Center who offered to open up their facility and their time on a holiday to host this event and ensure their most critical clients got connected with tickets to join us. We couldn’t have done this without their space and support.
· The DeCicco & Sons family who prepared the delicious food, donated desserts and drinks, and offered their own assistance serving on Thanksgiving day.
· Citizen volunteers, so many of whom wanted to help we unfortunately had to start turning them away. Among the community volunteers were County Legislator Jewel Williams Johnson, Town Councilwoman Gina Jackson, Woodlands High School students, and Elmsford Girl School Troop 2190.
· Decorations made the space festive and were handmade with care by Woodlands art students, YMCA youth, and Ardsley Girl Scout Troop 2937 who also helped hang them up that day.
* Hackley School donated a ton of posters and all the Thanksgiving Day cards in english and spanish
· Thanks to those who volunteered to drive to deliver meals to our homebound and seniors on their day off, including Sgt. Nick Reckson and his daughters, and Meals on Wheels driver Corey Patton.
· Thanks to many organizations that regularly feed the hungry we got meals out to communities served by the: YMOL Food Pantry, OLMC Elmsford Community Food Pantry, St Paul’s United Methodist Church of Hartsdale, The Adventist Church of White Plains, Legal Services of the Hudson Valley in Peekskill, Life Progressive Service of Mt. Vernon, Mary F. Clancy Charities of the Bronx, First Church of the Nazarene, patients of the Greenburgh Health Center, members of the community who received help thanks to the efforts of our Hispanic Liaison Maria Portilla, and seniors/homebound served by the meal and grocery programs of the Town of Greenburgh.
