Greenburgh Insider: Greenburgh honors 3 local hospitals for donating reflectors.

We honored Phelps Hospital, Westchester Medical Center and White Plains Hospital for donating thousands of reflectors Police will give reflectors to pedestrians walking at night who can't be seen.

GREENBURGH HONORS AREA HOSPITALS FOR DONATING REFLECTOR ARM BANDS.

GREENBURGH POLICE TO STOP PEDESTRIANS WALKING WITH DARK CLOTHING (who can't be seen at night) AND WILL GIVE THEM FREE REFLECTORS.

In recent years Greenburgh has tried to take proactive measures to keep pedestrians safe. We have been building new sidewalks all over town, a HAWK light will be operational in about a month -enabling pedestrians to safely cross Central Ave near Sacred Heart. We've enhanced crosswalks and have been giving out reflective arm bands so pedestrians can be seen in the dark.

At our last Greenburgh Town Board meeting we honored three local hospitals for donating thousands of reflective arm bands.  Phelps Hospital, Westchester Medical Center and White Plains Hospital  deserved a big thank you for  their partnership with the town.

Greenburgh Police Chief Kobie Powell announced that some of his officers will put the reflectors in their vehicles and when they see a pedestrian walking with dark clothing the individual will be given a reflector. We plan to test out this initiative -want pedestrians to be safe and be seen. But, we don't want to frighten them when they are stopped by the police and given a reflector.  If the test works we can expand the initiative.
