The lack of a safe crosswalk at this location is highlighted by drone video. Many pedestrians/cyclists (including me) cross the Bronx River Parkway bike path to get on Old Tarrytown Road.
Look at few second video tape of the most dangerous Bronx River Parkway bike path location with NO safe crosswalk to neighborhoods--
WE NEED A CROSSWALK ON OLD TARRYTOWN ROAD----SOMEONE COULD LOSE THEIR LIFE!
I bike to work frequently. I use the Bronx River Parkway pathway at least a few times a week and cross the bike path at the Old Tarrytown Road/Bronx River Parkway location.
There is no crosswalk at this location. I am not the only bicyclist or pedestrian who crosses the Parkway at this location. I have seen many others in recent weeks.
The need for a crosswalk is evident --as you will see by clicking onto the link. I arranged for a drone to take a visual of cars making left turns, right turns---making it very dangerous for most cyclists or pedestrians to cross.
I had contacted the county last year. Legislator Jewel Williams Johnson referred this issue to the appropriate county officials but we have not yet heard back.
I have asked Westchester County to create a safe crosswalk at this location. I got involved in this after being reached by other residents. Because there is a bike path on the parkway -and pedestrians/bicyclists who live on Old Tarrytown Road or on streets near the parkway want to use and enjoy the path - people will cross the parkway to use the path whether there is a safe crosswalk or not.
If a safe crosswalk is not built at this location --it's very probable that someone will eventually die in an accident.
I feel we have an obligation to make it safe for residents to cross the parkway.
