AN IMPORTANT MESSAGE ABOUT AIR QUALITY-- it is very unhealthy today, the worst in the world
As a result of the Canadian Wild Fires, air quality in parts of New York have become “very unhealthy,” rising to 218 on the Environmental Protection Agency’s Air Quality Index.
New York’s air quality rating briefly ranked as the worst of any city in the world on Tuesday, according to the IQAir World Air Quality Index.
While conditions are anticipated to temporarily improve later tonight through tomorrow morning, they are expected to deteriorate further tomorrow afternoon and evening. The state’s Department of Environmental Conservation has issued an air-quality health advisory.
Our recommendation is to limit time outdoors, and any strenuous outdoor activities. Wear an N95 mask if possible to filter particles and to protect yourself from the smoke. Keep a close eye on children, elderly and pets who may be extra sensitive to the smoke, in addition to keeping your windows closed.
