Greenburgh Insider: Drop off old shoes that are not needed at lobby -Greenburgh Town Hall--part of a charitable effort sponsored by Greenburgh Hebrew Center.

Thank you Greenburgh Hebrew Center for helping the less fortunate.

Greenburgh Hebrew Center’s (GHC) Shoe Drive Fundraiser--

drop off shoes at Greenburgh Town Hall lobby.

The Greenburgh Hebrew Center is sponsoring a shoe drive fundraiser which goes beyond raising money for our community.

The shoes are then sent to developing countries( i.e Haiti)  to create job opportunities. It’s estimated that 300 million people don’t own shoes.

Proceeds from the sales of the shoes are used to feed, clothe and house their families. One budding entrepreneur in Haiti even earned enough to send to her son to law school.

Shoe drive fundraisers help provide inventory to over 4,000 micro-entrepreneurs who sell the shoes to support their families, in turn, they help themselves out of poverty with a hand up not a handout.

It’s hard to believe that an estimated that over 200milion pairs of shoes go into American landfills.

The majority of these shoes can still be worn. The shoes that we collect will be kept from landfills and will help others in developing countries start micro-businesses that will create a sustainable income for their families.

All donated shoes are distributed throughout the Funds2Orgs Network. Funds2Orgs works with individuals in helping them create, maintain and grow small businesses in developing countries where economic opportunity and jobs are limited.

We know that most people have extra shoes in their closets they can donate. By doing so, we raise money for GHC, and we have the chance to help families in developing nations who need economic opportunities.

                        It's a win-win for everyone.

If you have any shoes, boots, sneakers, cleats that you would like to donate you can drop them off in a designated box at:

GREENBURGH TOWN HALL.

177 Hillside Ave, White Plains.

Deadline:  July 15th,2023

Thank you Greenburgh Hebrew Center for this initiative. I'm planning to clean up my closets in the coming days and look forward to participating in this worthy cause.
