Maria Portilla holds office hours every Tuesday at Greenburgh Town Hall from noon to 5 PM.
Greenburgh is very lucky! Maria Portilla has been our Hispanic Liaison for almost a year-- volunteering her time trying to help the Hispanic community with problems. Maria holds office hours every Tuesday from 12:00 – 5:00 pm at Greenburgh Town Hall for residents who have any personal issues and need government assistance. She has translated important documents in Spanish and provide help to individuals. She is skilled in Crisis Intervention, Family Therapy, Case Management and Program Development. She worked as a Senior Social Worker for Westchester County, Department of Social Services-CPS/Multidisciplinary Unit. Maria is a District Leader and member of the Greenburgh Human Rights Advisory Committee. She has been living in Greenburgh for 20 years.
I recently interviewed Maria Portilla on my WVOX radio program. We talked about her efforts - helping residents with a variety of problems. Over a month ago, when formulas were in shortage, we placed a bin at the lobby of Town Hall. A woman picked up some formula she needed. Maria started talking with her and learned that she needed an immigration card replacement and helped! Maria has assisted others find summer camp opportunities. She has helped the hungry and homeless and has also assisted residents with their job and housing searches and with other counseling. Domestic abuse, social services, assisting the disabled -- all problems are greeted by a smile and kindness from Maria.
