Greenburgh Insider: Massaro Park -history, party at the park tomorrow and on August 6.

Read link to find out how Massaro Park got the name.

Party tomorrow from 2- 7 PM and take a swim!

Massaro Park is in the news with some  great events tomorrow and on August 6 & 7.   Massaro Park is a beautiful park in North Elmsford off Payne (if you have never been to the park Payne is a short distance from Sam's Club).  For a little history about the park and about who the park is named for see the link to the article that our Town Historians wrote a few years back. Massaro was a Councilman in the Town of Greenburgh.

Tomorrow, July 23rd from 2 - 7 pm at Massaro Park, the Fairview Empowermenet Group in cooperation with Councilwoman Gina Jackson  and Greenburgh Parks and Recreation will be kicking off their summer festival series that will involve food trucks, merchants, food and fun.  In addition to these activities the park's pool and spray pad is free to the public throughout the summer and is a great way to stay cool.

Then on August 6 and 7 at Massaro Park, the North Elmsford Civic Association will be hosting their annual Community Reunion and Friends Day weekend celebration in partnership with Greenburgh Parks and Recreation, where there will be entertainment, vendors, food trucks and children activities. Lemuel Davis heads up the North Elmsford Civic Association and is a long time member of the Greenburgh Parks & Recreation Advisory Board.

A new playground for the park has been ordered with plans to be installed later this Fall.  Planning and funding from a state grant through NYS Assemblyman Tom Abinanti's office will also allow the Town to renovate the retaining wall and basketball court in the park and expand the pool deck and recondition the outdoor pool shell for 2023.

Any questions call Greenburgh Parks and Recreation at 914-989-1800.  Have a great weekend.

Paul Feiner

Greenburgh Town Supervisor
